This is an opportunity to see an 18th century military encampment and battle.
The reenactors' camp equipment and gear must resemble period equipment
-- no plastic, propane stoves, aluminum foil, synthetic materials for the
tents, etc. The reenactors allow people to visit their campsite to
see their campsites, and observe them cooking and doing other tasks.
The reenactors are part of a non-profit living history association dedicated
to recreating the life and times of the common soldier of the American
War for Independence, 1775-1783. Members represent elements of all
the armies then involved: Continental, Militia, British, Loyalist, German,
French, Spanish, and Native American forces plus civilian men, women and
children.
-
Battles are the highlight of the day. There will be battle reenactments
at 2 p.m. Sat. and 1 p.m. Sun.. During the battle reenactors fire
muskets and rifles, cavalry officers ride around brandishing their swords
and yelling orders, and cannons are fired.
-
No cellular phones are to be visible or heard. Dogs must be leashed.
-
Event is free, county park entrance fee
$3.50 with Park Pass, $7.00 without Park Pass.
