For my Eagle Scout service project, I shall be building an honors garden
for the United Methodist Church of Shrub Oak. My plan will consist
of clearing the area, preparing the garden and flower beds, putting in
a path using pavers, building and assembling two wooden benches by the
path and building one more bench for the back entry of the church.
I shall plant two Japanese Maple trees and three flowering bushes as part
of the garden, and then prepare the flower beds and plant some flowering
bulbs. The garden will be on the east side of the church and will
be running along the whole length of the sanctuary.
My objectives in building the garden are:
-
to provide a nice looking peaceful environment
-
to provide a minimal maintenance garden
-
to provide defined flowers beds
-
to provide a few plantings
-
to provide benches so parishioners can enjoy the garden.
